Accounts Receivable Specialist

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

  • Charting Software:
    1. Must handle medical billing meeting requirements of State and Federal Regulations, and Fairlawn Policies/Procedures;
    2. Work within our charting software for accounts receivable processing;
    3. Ensures that all billing is processed in a timely manner for proper reimbursement.
  • Processing Requirements:
    1. Manage all aspects of the Revenue Cycle;
    2. Coordinate and prepare billing setup;
    3. Coordinate billing with nursing department;
    4. Maintain accurate monthly billing for proper codes and diagnosis;
    5. Submit monthly electronic claims to Medicare/Medicaid and Insurance companies;
    6. Be accountable for monthly accounts receivable balances.
  • Accountabilities:
    1. Follow up on denied and/or rejected claims. Reconcile the claim and resubmit it until the  claim is paid in full;
    2. Assist with month end closings;
    3. Communicates Collection of accounts that could be a problem;
    4. Maintains confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations;
    5. Maintain current knowledge of billing regulations.
  • In-Services, Training and Education: Attend and participate in scheduled training, in-services, and educational classes to maintain current certification as mandated by Fairlawn Haven and State of Ohio.

Secondary Job Functions or Responsibilities:

  • Attend all stand up meetings daily;
  • Answers telephone as a backup to the receptionist;
  • Participate in weekly rehab therapy meetings;
  • Ensures that customers and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the residents needs and rights;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum of a LPN license is preferred;
  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with all personnel;
  • Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public;
  • Must have patience, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm handling difficult situations;
  • Medical terminology is required;
  • Knowledge of coding and filing systems is required;
  • Must be accurate, organized, and be detail oriented.

Abilities Required:

  • Must be able to push, pull move and/or lift supplies and equipment Max. over 50 lbs.
  • High level of computer skills is necessary
  • Must have excellent knowledge of rules of grammar, selling, and punctuation
  • This position requires that the employee is able to read, write, speak and understand the spoken English language to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents and visitors at the work site when responding to their medical and physical needs.
