and Palliative Care Eligibility    

This presentation will review the Medicare guidelines for hospice eligibility of patients with non-cancer diagnoses and criteria for referral of these patients to non-hospice palliative medicine as well as the tools that can be used for prognostication in patients with advanced cardiac, liver, renal , lung and neurological disorders. Dr. Cass will discuss the proper interpretation of tools such as the FAST scale, the Victoria Palliative Performance Scale, the MELD scale, the Seattle Heart Failure tool the NYHA functional staging scale and structural disease classification scale.

The handout will be available on screen during the seminar and will indicate credit available for each title.
