Reporting to the VP Residential Housing & Healthcare, the Health Services Administrator is responsible for the creation and maintenance of a culture of respect and responsiveness for both residents and staff and ensures the accomplishment of quality, clinical, financial, staff satisfaction, and strategy outcomes.  The Health Care Administrator must be a collaborative leader, working in partnership with her/his direct reports that include nursing, case management, life enrichment, social work, chaplaincy, front desk and volunteer services.  (S)he will also work collaboratively with all other departments and the administration to ensure the needs of residents, staff and community are met.  

Responsibilities

In addition to the normal and customary responsibilities and regulatory obligations of a licensed Nursing Home Administrator, the incumbent is responsible for the following specific goals and ongoing duties.

  • Plans, organizes, evaluates and directs day to day functions according to policies, procedures and applicable regulatory, statutory, and accreditation requirements.
    •Leads the community’s journey in Person Centered Care Principles, giving freedom, choice and purpose to those we serve.
    •Is accountable for the successful operation of health services processes including financial controls of the annual health services capital budget, budgetary process and performance against budget.
    •Assists the VP Health and Hospitality Services in developing an annual strategic plan including objectives, action plan and financial plan.
    •Is responsible for partnering with the Marketing Department for the successful development and implementation of the marketing and admissions program for the skilled area.
    •Assists in the development, use, enforcement and updates of policies and procedures to as-sure continued compliance.
    •Serves as ERS’s risk management liaison with ERS’s insurers and oversees ERS’s Safety and Risk Management Plan.
    •Reviews and develops a plan of correction for deficiencies noted during survey inspections and accreditation visits.
    •Selects, encourages and evaluates staff, contractors, medical directors, and consultants to supervise and support Health Services processes and programs.  Delegates administrative authority, responsibility and accountability to other staff personnel as necessary.
    •Serves as the community’s resident relations person, assisting residents with concerns and issues.  Serves as the liaison between staff and residents to assure successful resolution in conflict situations.
    •Assures proper staffing levels are met.
    •Authorizes the purchase of major equipment/supplies.
    •Maintains effective relations with residents, families, staff, Board members, medical staff and others.
    •Assures that the residents rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights are well established and maintained at all times.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered Nursing Home Administrator’s license
    •Bachelor’s degree in health services administration or related field required
    •Advanced training in hospital or long-term care administration is preferred
    •Seven years of experience in a senior leadership role in a long-term care community preferred
