DIRECTOR OF NURSING

Kendal at Oberlin, a premier Life Plan Community located in beautiful Oberlin, Ohio, 35 miles west of Cleveland, Ohio, has a distinctive opportunity for a dedicated, energetic RN Director of Nursing to

lead its clinical team in our 79-resident Stephens Care Center (Residential Care Facility and Skilled

Nursing Facility). Kendal at Oberlin is an accredited community through CARF-CCAC, and its Nursing

Home is a recognized Medicare 5-Star Facility, rated in the Top 20 for family satisfaction by the Ohio Department of Aging. This is an exempt, full-time position reporting to the Chief Health Services Officer.

The DON will integrate Kendal’s Values and Practices into clinical care objectives and leadership, fostering a passion for excellence in person-centered health care and innovation to develop programs that positively transform the experience of aging.

Required qualifications include graduation from an accredited school of nursing (BSN) and current Registered Nurse licensure by the state of Ohio; 8 years’ minimum experience as a professional nurse in which administrative and supervisory competence have been demonstrated. Other essential abilities include strong oral and written communication skills, outstanding attention to detail, and the ability to train, coach, evaluate, and develop staff in the performance of their clinical jobs while establishing a high level of team building. 

The DON has the ability to coordinate and supervise all clinical and administrative staff while maintaining a calm-and-positive demeanor despite situational challenges.  The DON will practice a high demonstration of courtesy and compassion in collaborative relationships with residents, their family members, medical staff, and all others.  Key to success will be the ability to partner with the Health and Wellness Clinic RN to ensure seamless continuity of care throughout Kendal’s continuum of care.

The DON develops and maintains departmental budgetary goals to support the fiscal health of Kendal at Oberlin and adheres to Ohio Department of Health and Federal Regulations to maintain the facility’s licensure to excellent compliance.
