LeadingAge Ohio, Members Testify Against SB 36

This week, LeadingAge Ohio members testified before the Senate Ways and Means committee, giving voice to profound concerns about the effect of Senate Bill 36, were it enacted. The bill, summarized in previous editions of The Source, would change the way property taxes are calculated for subsidized housing properties, using market rate rents as the basis for the calculation. It was the bill’s third hearing, and a number of housing developers, operators and advocates raised concerns about the damaging effect the policy would have in the midst of a severe shortage in affordable options for seniors.
