“Careers that Love You Back” Website Launches, Showcases Careers in Aging Services
As part of LeadingAge Ohio’s focus on recruiting the workforce of tomorrow, a website has been created to promote awareness of careers in the aging services workforce sector geared towards younger students.
“Careers that Love You Back” is a statewide campaign and resource for providers and teachers to begin to introduce students to careers across the continuum of LeadingAge Ohio’s members’ services -- from affordable housing to hospice. The posters are designed to share the range of opportunities available in this in-demand sector.
The demographics paint a picture of the importance of this project; Ohio is the sixth oldest state in the United States and its aging population is growing rapidly, with caregiver numbers on the decline.
The Careers That Love You Back posters identify 21 career choices in the field of aging services. This project supplements existing intergenerational programs by fostering early awareness and interest in the field of aging services in K-6 grades, laying the foundation for later career readiness and training.
Each poster includes nine major parts:
- Name of career and/or department
- Summary paragraph
- Career quote
- How you can prepare?
- Are you a person who . . . (aligns interests and talents with job requirements)
- Employment Outlook
- Salary range (includes the heat of the economic outlook for a career - Average, Above Average or Hot!)
- Schooling required
- Similar careers
- Levels (demonstrates advancement opportunities)
A curriculum guide is also available to accompany the posters to help maximize impact for teachers in sharing this resource and opportunity with our next generation of caregivers and difference-makers.
