Overpayment Reports Total $14.8 Million, 30-Day Response Window to Close This Friday May 31

On May 1, the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) mailed 1,258 active nursing facility overpayment reports for fiscal years 2015 & 2016.  The reports total $14.8 million with an average balance owed of slightly under $12,000 per nursing facility. Nursing facilities must respond to the overpayment reports within 30 days.

ODM reached out this week to note that, with the 30-day response window closing on Friday, 518 responses (or 41% of the mailed reports) are yet to be received.   If a provider has not yet sent their response form(s) to LTCAudits@medicaid.ohio.gov, they should do so as soon as is possible.

ODM has clarified that dispute documentation can be submitted with the response form, but is not required.

ODM’s Mark Graves noted, “We’re well aware that some may not be responding because they  agree with the proposed amounts owed, but we’d also like to make sure those same providers don’t forfeit their option to select the payments terms which work best for them.”
