Good Shepherd Home’s Chris Widman Appointed to BELTSS

On August 27, 2019, Governor Mike DeWine appointed LeadingAge Ohio Member and newly elected LeadingAge Ohio Board member, Chris Widman, Executive Director of Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria, to the Board of Executives of Long-Term Services and Supports (BELTSS).

BELTSS develops and enforces standards for nursing home administrators; formulates appropriate examinations; and issues, revokes, and suspends licenses of nursing home administrators. The board investigates complaints; evaluates and approves continuing education courses to meet license renewal requirements; controls an ongoing trainee program for prospective nursing home administrators; and maintains a register of all licensed nursing home administrators and trainees.

In addition, BELTSS, in conjunction with LeadingAge Ohio and OHCA, provides the Core of Knowledge course designed for administrators in training. This course meets the special academic requirement set by BELTSS for qualifying to take the state licensure board examination.

As a member of the Board, Widman will advise the staff of BELTSS on rule development and changes affecting licensees. His term will run from August 27, 2019 until May 27, 2022.
