LeadingAge Submits Results of Hospice Audit Survey to CMS

LeadingAge, in collaboration with other national hospice associations, conducted a survey in October 2023 regarding the burden of audits on hospice providers. LeadingAge compiled a detailed report based on the findings and sent it to the Center for Program Integrity on January 5 for their review and feedback. The survey results underscored themes LeadingAge has continually heard from members regarding the lack of auditor education and knowledge of hospice, the burdensome nature of the process, and questions about why the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is focusing on certain areas for scrutiny.
