Fundamental Principles for the Prevention, Identification, and Management of Wound Infection at the End of Life

HospiLearn Series

WEBINAR

Fundamental Principles for the Prevention, Identification, and Management of Wound Infection
at the End of Life

Wound infection is defined as the proliferation of microorganisms in sufficient numbers to cause a local or systemic immune response. Symptoms of wound infection can vary depending on the extent of microbial invasion; however, even in a locally infected wound, symptom burden is heavy and includes bleeding, new or increasing pain, malodor, and excessive exudate.  This presentation will review the fundamental principles of preventing, identifying, and managing the infected wound in end-of-life patients to reduce or resolve symptom burden.
