CORPORATE MANAGER OF MEMORY CARE ENHANCEMENT

The Corporate Manager of Memory Care Enhancement plans, organizes, and oversees all memory care program and services development and implementation in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure the highest degree of quality resident care is maintained at all times.

This position doesn't necessarily need to reside at the corporate office, as this position requires regular travel throughout the state to our locations.

Essential Activities and Tasks

Project Management

Leads the memory care best practice initiative for Ohio Living, in partnership with corporate and life plan community leadership.
Researches memory care philosophies, methods, with the expectation to introduce a system-wide standardization of programs, processes, and procedures that have a positive impact on residents, families, and employees.
Plans, develops and implements memory care enhancement programs and services within life plan communities that have consistent elements/continuity in all memory care units, with a focus on maintaining each resident's highest level of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Develops, coordinates, and conducts employee knowledge and skills needs analysis to assist in establishing objectives for education and training curriculum and programs.
Develops, organizes, and facilitates classroom education and hands-on training programs for employees to establish the foundation for knowledge and philosophy, and to demonstrate the "how-to's" in approach to care, in all company memory care units.
Develops, coordinates, and facilitates resident/family representative education regarding dementia, disease processes, and our approach to memory care, defining and working toward successful interactions with residents, etc.
Develops and implements guidelines for monitoring the delivery of care and services to ensure program criteria are met.
Establishes, implements, and monitors memory care resident outcome measurements to include initially, cognitive, physical, social, and recreational dimensions.
Develops and implements Resident Admission Criteria (cognitive and functional) to ensure proper placement and to assist business development and life plan community employees in the assessment and admission processes.
Develops and coordinates the assessment of each memory care unit's environmental factors and assists in developing a short-term and long-term plan to prioritize and modify the environment to enhance health, cognition, comfort, recreation, safety, and security.
In conjunction with information systems and life plan community employees, identifies and implements technology solutions and enhancements to support and advance memory care program and services.

Quality and Compliance Management

Maintains compliance with state and federal regulations by maintaining records, reports, and instructional materials. Fulfills administrative requirements by completing all necessary forms, reports and record keeping.
Works with life plan community employees in identifying and monitoring the quality assurance and risk management indicators and in meeting quality assurance standards.
Maintains the confidentiality of resident information.

People Management and Development

Coaches and influences the work of life plan community staff regarding the performance expectations of their position.
Coordinates the development, planning, scheduling, monitoring, and delivery of education and training programs for life plan community employees to include standards for program implementation, elements of new employee orientation, and ongoing education (i.e. quarterly, annual, etc.).
Develops and implements criteria and tools to assist with the screening, interviewing, selection, hiring, and orientation of new employees.
Defines, establishes, and promotes memory care performance expectations so employees understand and demonstrate excellence through high quality and consistent performance.
Fosters a positive work environment that attracts, retains, and motivates employees.
In conjunction with life plan community leadership, develops a reasonable and sufficient plan for staffing memory care units to ensure resident needs and program criteria can be met.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in education, organizational development, or related field required.
Current unencumbered license for the state of Ohio to practice as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) preferred.

Experience

Ten years experience in program development required.
Five years experience in staff member education required.
Five years experience in organizational development required.
Five years experience as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) required.
Direct memory care experience required.
Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the internet required.
