Sara Kilpatrick to Lead Ohio Pharmacists Association as Next Chief Executive Officer

 

Sara Kilpatrick OPA CEOThe Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) is thrilled to announce Sara Kilpatrick as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO), beginning November 17, 2025. A proven leader and seasoned association executive with almost two decades of experience, she will bring a fresh perspective and renewed momentum to OPA.

“Sara brings a wealth of experience in association leadership, organizational management and legislative advocacy, along with a proven record of success,” said Dana Wilkerson, OPA President. “The Board of Trustees and I look forward to the fresh ideas, strategic vision, and innovative leadership she brings to guide OPA forward."

Most recently, Kilpatrick served as Executive Director of the Ohio Conference of the American Association of University Professors, where she led a 7,000-member organization through a period of significant growth and transformation. During her tenure, membership grew by 40%, financial sustainability was strengthened through diversified revenue streams, and the organization’s visibility and influence expanded through strategic advocacy and coalition partnerships.

Her earlier experience includes serving as Executive Political Director in the Ohio Senate, where she managed statewide strategy, increased fundraising by 300%, and expanded organizational visibility. She also worked as Associate Director of Government Relations at the Ohio State Medical Association, advancing key policy initiatives and member advocacy efforts.

“It is an honor to lead an association with a rich history of serving the pharmacy profession and advancing quality patient care,” said Kilpatrick. “I look forward to collaborating with pharmacy professionals, stakeholders, and policymakers to build partnerships and create innovative solutions that advance a shared public health mission.”

Kilpatrick succeeds Dave Burke, RPh, MBA, PharmD (Hon), who has served as Executive Director since 2023. The OPA Board of Trustees extends its sincere gratitude to Burke for his leadership and dedication to the association and the profession during his tenure.

As CEO, Kilpatrick will lead OPA in advancing its mission to invest in and empower pharmacists in every setting as the medication experts. Her focus will include deepening member engagement, strengthening OPA’s advocacy efforts, and supporting the profession as it navigates a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. OPA welcomes her leadership and looks forward to the energy and vision she will bring to the work ahead.
