Critical ACTION is Needed NOW! The Senate Civil Justice Committee voted this morning to pass SB165, Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment. It now is prepared to go to the Senate Floor for a vote. The opposition just released a statement pushing hard to keep the bill from going to the Senate Floor for a vote this afternoon. - The MOLST was voted out of the Civil Justice Committee this morning and we need your support in moving it forward on the Senate Floor.
- The MOLST allows for greater individual choice!
- The MOLST reduces crisis by helping patients, families, and healthcare providers navigate the healthcare system at end-of-life. It provides more clarity around a one’s wishes and allows the individual to die in the setting of their choosing.
- The MOLST communicates a patient’s wishes, through portable medical orders for all health care settings including EMT, hospitals, institutional settings, community settings, and a patient’s home.
- SB 165 was developed by a strong statewide coalition, with input from health care providers, EMT and Fire Chiefs, attorneys, patient advocates, religious and pro-life organizations, to address how MOLST in Ohio can be a tool that honors wishes and respects human life.
