MOLST Passes Senate 30-3

MOLST Passes Senate 30-3

Today on the Senate floor, the Ohio Senate voted for the passage of SB165, which will implement Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (MOLST) in Ohio. This marks the culmination of years of work by the Honoring Wishes Task Force which has committed to reforming Ohio’s do-not-resuscitate protocol, as well as the individual advocacy efforts of LeadingAge Ohio members and stakeholders.

Now, the bill moves to the Ohio House of Representatives for consideration. LeadingAge Ohio plans an aggressive grassroots outreach over the summer recess to increase the likelihood this important legislation will be enacted before the end of this session.

LeadingAge Ohio encourages all members to take a moment to write a thank you note to their senator for their support of this important legislation. To find out how you can get involved in this grassroots support MOLST, contact Nisha Hammel, Director of Advocacy, at nhammel@leadingageohio.org.
