STAT:  Survey Tips and Tactics

Discover how nursing homes are being cited with their annual surveys. The Long-Term Care Survey Process and regulatory language will be reviewed. Each month will delve into a specific survey topic. Common citation examples will be given with interactive discussion from members sharing their survey experiences. Obtain useful tips and tactics for the monthly highlighted topic. Resources and other reference material will be shared.

Each webinar is a separate virtual event. Registration is required for each.

 

April 12, 2023  Unnecessary Medications

CMS is targeting unnecessary medications and inappropriate Schizophrenia diagnoses in
nursing homes as outlined in the QSO-23-05-NH memo. Unnecessary psychotropic
medications F-tag 758 is one of the ten most frequently cited deficiencies during the
annual survey for Ohio in 2022. This session will cover the most recent information about the
Schizophrenia audits. The surveyor protocol in determining what constitutes unnecessary
medications will be covered including citation examples related to gradual dose reductions.
ODH updates and current citation trends in Ohio will be discussed.

Substitution and Cancellation Policy: Substitutions, in writing, are welcome at no additional cost. Cancellations received by two calendar weeks prior to event date will be fully refunded. Cancellations received between 7 and 13 days prior to the event date will be refunded minus a $10 processing fee. No refunds will be issued 6 or fewer days prior to the event date.

Continuing Education Information

1.0 clock hours will be awarded upon successful completion.

Criteria for successful completion: Attendance at entire event and submission of completed evaluation form.
