LeadingAge Ohio responds to DeWine Administration survey on direct care workforce challenges

Last week, LeadingAge Ohio responded to a survey released by the DeWine Administration regarding ongoing direct care workforce challenges. Several key departments within the Administration are collaborating on a multi-agency task force to create better pathways and procedures for direct care workers in Ohio. The survey requested comments on the five following components:

  1. Rules, Regulations and Laws
  2. Education and Training Support
  3. Scope of Practice
  4. Employee Wellness and Social Supports
  5. Leverage Technology and Innovations

LeadingAge Ohio’s response included recommendations for targeted campaigns to boost the number of certified STNAs and home health aides, money allocations for technology investments and other workflow enhancements, incentivizing best workplace practices, and additional detailed regulatory changes.
