Direct Care Working Group explores solutions

This week the Ohio Direct Care Workforce Expansion Working Group met to review draft proposals met via zoom to discuss themes identified in written comments as well as testimony delivered the week of August 1. LeadingAge Ohio was among the stakeholders invited to provide feedback on the draft, which included items like early intervention to expose high school students to direct care careers, public relations to promote direct care roles, paying for assistive technology and streamlining existing regulations like standardizing credentials across waivers and providing technical assistance to independent providers. The Working Group has asked stakeholders to provide input on the draft document, in hopes that a final product might function like a “playbook” of workforce solutions for the state of Ohio.
